Q) If is not possible to restore files from a CD, DVD disk drive, will I be charged

    A) No, No fix, no fee

Q) Can all files be restored

    A) It depends on the damage, or how much has been overwritten. For large files, a section in the middle may be missing that makes running the file impossible.  For many small files, a complete file may be missing

Q) Why are disks unreadable

    A) There are many answers, such as

    • The disk has suffered physical damage
    • The disk was not written correctly, or there were error when writing
    • The disk writing was interrupted

In each case, it should be possible to recover data that is not actually on a damaged sector, or was written before writing was stopped

Q) Can files on a CD-R which has been appended to be recovered

    A) Yes, we can access all files that have been written on a CD-R

Q) Can deleted files on a CD-RW be read

    A) It does depend on what has happened to the CD afterwards.  If nothing new has been written, or no complete erase done, files should be recoverable.

Q) Is it possible to recover data from a formatted CD-RW or DVD-RW

    A) Yes, there are two ways to format a CD-RW or DVD-RW.  For a Quick format, it is normally possible to recover all files. One American company says that the American company the only ones able to do this - CnW Recovery like to prove them wrong.  If it has been securely formatted  ( or Full format) - a process that often takes 20-30 minutes, the chances are that the only use of the CD will be as a bird scarer. Every sector will have been cleared, and recovery impossible. However, if not sure, CnW Recovery will investigate the disk at no charge.  The success rate for this type of recovery has been close to 100%

Q) The session has not been closed or failed when closing.  Can the files be recovered

    A) Yes.  CnW Recovery use several techniques to recover files from CDs, in either UDF or Joliet format

Q) A file has been deleted on a CD-R using UDF.  Can it be recovered

    A) Yes, each writing session on a CD, or DVD can be recovered
