How to download, install and configure free CnW-FM
System compatibility
The program is Windows only and has been developed under Windows 10 and Windows 11 (both 64 bits). It runs with a simple to use GUI.
Download the program and run the setup cnwfm_setup.exe. Typically just accept the default values, and then Launch application at the end. It will run in user or admin mode.

The above download is digitally signed by CnW Recovery but this does not have a trusted authority. Chrome is less fussy than Microsoft Edge. Thus Windows download may try and reject it. If you have problems, please e-mail us on info@cnwrecovery.co.uk and we will e-mail you a copy. These security systems have their place, but also a large fee to fully certify for small developers, and typically not available for non Ltd companies.
If you get this, press 'More info' and selection to install. We care working on better solutions, possibly using Microsoft Store.
This free download, August 2026 is a Beta version. It should not crash (too much) and will not change any files. It will scan selected drives and show duplicate files, directories, including testing file with a CRC32 hash value to see if identical. Supports file selection by extension and tests across multiple drives.

Networked drives
CnW-FM will scan and monitor networked drives, but it is essential that they have been mapped to a logical drive letter first. A point to note is that you you wish to run CnW-FM in Admin mode, the standard file mappings do not work.
